Opened to the public on none other than Cinco de Mayo (Thursday, May 5, 2011), the venue opened with much fanfare as the hottest new dining destination at The Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables. With Mexican food hotter than ever right now in South Florida, the restaurant appeals to the trendsetters that flock to the designer boutiques, restaurants and cafes that fill the Spanish-style al fresco shopping center. Perfect for families, shoppers, young professionals and foodies alike, the restaurant marks the first Miami-Dade culinary foray for seasoned restaurant veteran, Carmine Giardini and his Palm Beach Gardens-based company Carmine’s Restaurant Group.
The 366-seat restaurant’s rustic yet colorful décor plays into its fun, celebratory and down-to-earth atmosphere, with a bustling bar serving a full spectrum of traditional and fabulous specialty cocktails. The delicious and priced-to-please menu is executed by renowned chef and Nunzio Billante, a well-respected local talent best known for his workwith Rocco’s Tacos. Diners at Cinco can kick off their meal with mouthwatering made-to-order guacamole or a cazuela de queso fundido accompanied by chile rajas and chorizo before moving on to other dynamic fare, such as a succulent seafood ceviche Campechana or ancho-rubbed pork rib chop.
The expansive menu allows for endless combinations perfect for sharing. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. Located on the ground floor of The Village at Merrick Park at 4521 San Lorenzo Street in Coral Gables.
