Social Styles: Summer Sartorial
For the past week, Stylist Elysze Held spent some of the hottest days of the year up and down the East Coast, beginning in Manhattan, darting around the inaugural New York Fashion Week Men’s, and capturing the looks backstage and from the front row, always searching for the best pieces for her choice clients. New York Fashion Week Men’s proved itself to be a celebration of creativity, and brought classics, vintage and military looks, plus rock & roll on the runway.
Next, she headed south to catch the last few days of Miami Swim Week--The Miami Swim crowd were dressed ultra summery but still sharp and on the runway the Faves of the week nailed it! The bright and uncompromisingly chic one piece wonders at Clover Canyon, the action packed road show by Maaji Swimwear, and the stand-out of the shows, the Mara Hoffman R/S presentation which was held at Casa Casuarina, also known as the iconic Versace Mansion.
Social Styles: Gala Glamour
There are Galas—and there are GALAS: The “Gala Season” in Miami for 2014-2015 has turned out to be one decadent party celebration after another. (no complaints here). But none proved itself to be more elegant in the inspiration of black tie dressing than The Arsht Center’s Gala featuring the iconic maestro himself, Barry Manilow.
It was a night to remember (of course, it would be Miami’s answer to the Met Ball). “In what has become an annual tradition to welcome world-class talent to the Arsht Center’s state- of-the-art stages for our Anniversary Gala, guests this year enjoyed and danced to! a blockbuster performance by the legendary Barry Manilow,” said Swanee DiMare, chair of the Gala for the third year in a row along with her husband Paul DiMare. “As an avid supporter of arts education, Mr. Manilow was the perfect choice to grace the stage, as all the money raised by the Gala will be reinvested into the Arsht Center’s robust educational programming.” Philanthropy and style-perfect match! In fashion-speak, it was an evening of cascading trains, extravagant sophistication, luxury and legacy.
