More than $2.5 million was raised for the Diabetes Research Institute when the produce industry teamed up with pro-ballers at the 29th Annual Don Strock Diabetes Golf Classic, presented by Miami Seaquarium. The event was held at the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club with 150 golfers hitting the links. Afterwards the players enjoyed a cocktail reception and awards dinner where Strock, the former Miami Dolphins quarterback, gave accolades to Tournament Chairman Bruce Fishbein and his hard-working committee, composed mainly of members of the produce industry. Strock extended gratitude to celebrity participants including: current Miami Dolphins players Dan Carpenter, John Denney and Brandon Fields; former Miami Dolphins players Eddie Hill, Larry Ball, Derrick Rodgers, Bob Brudzinski, Shawn Wooden, Darrell Malone, John Harris, Woody Bennett, Larry Little, Nat Moore and Jeff Cross; free agent Quadtrine Hill, and former professional Jai Alai player Joey Cornblitt, plus John “Footy” Kross and Scott “Froggy” Langley of Y-100.
