This premier event celebrates St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its International Outreach Program (IOP). The mission of the IOP is to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic diseases worldwide, by sharing knowledge, technology, and organizational skills with doctors in partner clinics. The program works with clinics in 14 countries around the world, mostly in Latin America.

In addition, this upcoming year marks a truly remarkable milestone for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – its 50th anniversary. Throughout the year, St. Jude’s will celebrate 50 years of medical breakthroughs, honor the donors and volunteers who have so generously supported its work, and pay tribute to the children and families who inspire us all through their courageous fight against life-threatening diseases.

In previous years, gala guests have not only enjoyed a wonderful event, but also entertainment by some of the most recognized Latino singers in the world who have generously donated their time in honor of the children of St. Jude. Some of the renowned artists who have taken the stage are Victor Manuel, Jose Feliciano, Chino y Nacho, Cristian Castro, Albita, Fanny Lu, Luis Enrique, Eduardo Osorio, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Willy Chirino, Luis Fonsi, Noel Schajris and many others. The gala has also honored some of the most recognized and celebrated artists in Latin music and entertainment for their humanitarian work, such as Romero Britto, Juanes, Tommy and Thalia Mottola, Emilio and Gloria Estefan and singer Luis Fonsi.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, is one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. Children from all 50 states and from around the world have come through the doors of St. Jude for treatment, and thousands more around the world have benefited from the research conducted at St. Jude – research that is shared freely with the global medical community.

St. Jude is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization. In 2010, St. Jude was ranked the most trusted charity in the nation in a public survey conducted by Harris Interactive, a highly respected international polling and research firm. St. Jude was also named the nation’s top children’s cancer hospital in the 2010-2011 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings published by U.S. News & World Report.
