2014 Hall of Dreams Gala and Celebrity Golf Tournament
Benefiting Baptist Children's Hospital
The Baptist Children’s Hospital Foundation Hall of Dreams weekend kicked off on Friday, February 7 with a Celebrity Golf Tournament hosted by former Major League Baseball players Jorge Posada and Mike Lowell. The tournament was held at the Biltmore Hotel and each of the foursomes included an MLB alumni. PGA champion Tom Weiskopf was also on the course supporting Baptist Children’s Hospital. The Celebrity Golf tournament was chaired by Carlos and Victoria Lowell in partnership with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association and sponsored by Sazón Goya, Pacifica Real Estate and UBS.
On Saturday, February 8 the Hall of Dreams Gala welcomed nearly 500 guests – 100 of whom were children. The Gala was held at the Trump National Hotel and this year’s theme celebrated children of all ages. WPLG news anchor Laurie Jennings was mistress of ceremonies. The Hall of Dreams Gala was chaired by Gene Drody and Lani Kahn Drody, Peter and Gina Gardner, and Matthew and Cristina Sullivan. The honorary chair for the evening was Sherry Kranys, who generously donated $1 million to establish the Sherry Kranys Children’s Innovation Fund. Gala philanthropic chairs were John and Selene Devaney.
Major sponsors to the Hall of Dreams Gala were BenTrust Financial, Inc., Bacardi, Sheridan Healthcare and Ocean Bank. The Hall of Dreams weekend raised more than $740,000. Proceeds will be used to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Emergency Care Center and the Children’s Cancer Caring Center at Baptist Children’s Hospital.
