The 2015 American Cancer Society Gala will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Downtown Miami. Approximately 800 influential leaders within Miami’s social and corporate communities will gather for a night of elegance, exquisite food, and live entertainment. The cocktail reception and silent auction will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing at 8:30 p.m.
The 2015 Gala Chairs are Christy and David Martin from Terra Group along with Honorary Chairs Lourdes and Felipe Valls. Presenting sponsor is Baptist Health South Florida, and key supporters include Lilliam and Gus Machado, Remedios and Fausto Diaz Oliver, Marile and Jorge Luis Lopez, Teresita and Michael Haskett, the Munilla Family Foundation, Doral Lincoln, and Cecilia and David Comeau, just to name a few.
The event’s exciting silent auction will feature items such as airline tickets, jewelry, golf packages, sports collectibles, spa packages and couture fashion. During the live auction gala guests will be challenged to raise money to help Finish the Fight against cancer. From its beginning, the American Cancer Society has been the leading force in the fight against cancer. After 102 years, they can envision the end of cancer as we know it – from deadly to treatable, from curable to preventable. One hundred years ago, we began the fight of a lifetime. Now it’s time to finish it!
Everyone is invited to join the fight against cancer, and to participate in this year’s mission to raise one million dollars in honor of the American Cancer Society’s mission.

The American Cancer Society was founded in 1913 as the American Society for the Control of Cancer (ASCC) by 15 prominent physicians and business leaders in New York City. At that time, a cancer diagnosis amounted to near certain death. Rarely mentioned in public, this taboo disease was steeped in fear and denial.
