Plaza Health Network Foundation’s 9th Annual Woman of Distinction & Caring Luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 15 at the Hilton Miami Downtown. Norma Jean Abraham serves as Luncheon Chairperson along with Co-Chairs Josefina Carbonell, Thelma Gibson and Linda Levy Goldberg. Trish Bell and Marile Lopez are Co-Chairs of the Nominating Committee, and Terri Shikany and Nancy Schwartz are Co-Chairs of the Silent Auction.

Nine spectacular honorees are this year’s Women of Distinction & Caring: Maria Alonso, Gabriela Rachadell de Delgado, Swanee DiMare, Barbara Black Goldfarb, Cindy Hutson, Virginia Jacko, Laurie Jennings, Annie Neasman, RN, and Darlene Pérez, ARNP.

Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. with a champagne reception and silent auction along with the Sunburst Society Boutiques and Kendra Scott Wall of Treasures. Included in the auction are a week’s stay at the Yellow House in the Florida Keys, cooking classes in Tuscany, Italy; South African VIP 6-Night Safari, cruises, bicycle with helmet, museum memberships and many other fun prizes. Lunch and the celebration of the nine exceptional honorees will begin at 12:30 with WPLG Chanel 10’s Anchor/Reporter Louis Aguirre serving as emcee.

Proceeds from this year’s luncheon will support the development of patient-centered programs that are above and beyond the basics covered by Medicare, Medicaid and Insurances. These programs include “Music & Memory” for patients with diminished cognitive skills and dementia, the “Virtual Family Reunion System” which allows a patient to connect with up to 40 friends and family globally; the “Cultural Arts” program which brings local musicians and student musicians to each center for a series of concerts.

The Plaza Health Network Foundation plays a critical role for our 6 outstanding, award winning rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers, and for the South Florida community. For the Network, the Foundation provides funds for patient focused programs and services that are above and beyond the basics covered by Medicare and Medicaid, such as the Virtual Family Reunion Program, the Music and Memory program for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients, innovative recreational and therapeutic programs, and transport vehicles.

For the community, the Foundation participates in and presents a variety of educational and experiential programs aimed at promoting health and wellness for Boomers, seniors, and elders in the South Florida community such as the H.E.L.P. (Health Education Learning Program), a community outreach program and online resource center that provides health and wellness information from experts in the South Florida community to Boomers, seniors and their families.
