30th Anniversary Kick Off

Miami International Film Festival brings out the A-List

On Friday, February 8, Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), produced and presented by Miami Dade College, will highlight its 30th anniversary celebrations with a “cast reunion” and screening of a film from 1995’s festival, Miami Rhapsody, directed by David Frankel, as part of MIFF’s month-long Countdown Retrospective series.

Special guests include cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Jeremy Piven and Carla Gugino, who will join Director David Frankel for the evening, which will begin with a 35mm screening of Miami Rhapsody at 7 p.m. After the screening, the “Cast Reunion” will continue with a party at The Coral Gables Country Club at 9 p.m.

Miami Rhapsody is a clever romantic comedy set in Miami about the infinite perils, and possibilities, of marriage in the mid-nineties. Director David Frankel, who also penned the screenplay, follows in the footsteps of Woody Allen in using introspective dialogue to detail the romantic troubles of a wealthy, neurotic Jewish family.

The evening is part of MIFF’s mission to celebrate and commemorate its 30th Anniversary with a Countdown Retrospective that begins Saturday, January 26, 2013. Each night leading up to the festival, a film from MIFF’s past will be screened at MDC’s Tower Theater.

Tickets are $130 for both film and party access, or $100 for Miami Film Society members. For tickets and more information, visit www.miamifilmfestival.com or call 305-405-MIFF (6433).
