30th Anniversary Red Cross Ball
The American Red Cross celebrated its 30th Anniversary American Red Cross Ball on March 24 at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne. More than 430 prominent and influential community leaders and philanthropists were in attendance for a night of exquisite food, elegant décor and dancing.
Commemorating its 30th year of fundraising with the help of an extraordinary committee, this year’s ball raised more than $535,000 in support of the local disaster response programs and other life saving programs offered by the Red Cross in South Florida.
Since 1992, the Red Cross ball has been established as one of Miami’s most prestigious social fundraising events. Chair Terry Buoniconti continued the tradition of excellence and elegance this year. Historical actress Mary Ann Jung, in her role as Clara Barton (founder of the American Red Cross) acted as mistress of ceremonies and brought history to life for this special anniversary ball.
Guests enjoyed specially prepared cocktails throughout the evening from the posh Bacardi Lounge, décor by Petal Productions with Flowers by Esmeralda and USA Bouquet and were able to purchase a surprise box from the Tiffany & Co. wall, which was filled with wonderful gifts.
An electronic bidding system allowed guests to bid wirelessly from individual iPods for silent auction items including an Azamarra International Cruise, artwork, wine and other fabulous prizes.
The 31st Annual Red Cross Ball promises to be an affair that simply cannot be missed. It is scheduled for March 23, 2013 at the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne and is being chaired by Marie-Ilene and Thomas Whitehurst.
