Celebrating more than half a century of healthcare excellence and community service, South Miami Hospital will hold its 51st Annual Mercury Ball on March 5 at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa. Proceeds from the ball will support the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Center, operating suites and imaging services.

Each year the Mercury Ball is organized by the South Miami Hospital Associates, a group of business leaders who serve as goodwill ambassadors and fundraisers for the hospital and the South Miami Hospital Foundation.

Funds generated from the ball will help defray the cost of the proposed two-story project that would modernize the Emergency Center and the hospital’s surgical services and imaging services areas.

Kathleen and Nathan Hirsch, M.D., South Miami Hospital Board member, with Deborah Antoni, Esq.

On the first floor, the new Emergency Center would have a six-bed Fast Track area for minor emergencies and illnesses. It would also include new triage positions, 16 beds for emergency treatment and a 12-bed clinical decision unit to help reduce patient wait time. Imaging Services, which is adjacent to the Emergency Center, would have room for a new CT scanner and inpatient waiting area.

The second floor would house 12 new state-of-the-art surgical suites, with room for four more. It would also consist of 36 pre- and post-procedure rooms and a new Central Sterile Processing area.

Please join the celebration and support the Emergency Center and Clinical Expansion Project and contribute to a healthier South Florida community. For more information, please call 786-596-6535.
