You are cordially invited to “We’re Rockin’ Baby!” An Elegant Gourmet Experience on Saturday night, October 25. This charitable event is presented by Crown Wine and Spirits and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino benefitting Project: New Born.
Begin the night with 100+ of the world’s finest wines among 700 of South Florida’s most philanthropic and influential leaders at a Grande Cocktail Party with a live saxophone quartet, Passed hors d’oeuvres and a Silent Auction featuring collectible wines, vacation packages, art, dining experiences, jewelry and gorgeous fashions from the Bal Harbour Shops and The Webster.
Then the party really starts with your host Paul Castronovo! Enjoy a four-course epicurean dinner, paired with select wines, top shelf open bar, lavish Champagne Lounge and dancing to the music of “The Clique,” a live band. Cap off the night with a special performance by a surprise celebrity headliner and indulge in signature desserts created by 15 of South Florida’s finest chefs, including Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak, Ana Paz Cakes and Misha’s Cupcakes.
Tables of 10 are available at the $2,500, $3,750 and $5,000 levels; individual dinner seats may be reserved for $250 or $375. Corporate sponsorships and underwriting opportunities also are available at the $10,000 and $25,000 level. Donations and ticket purchases qualify for tax benefits.
About Project: New Born
In 1973, a one-pound preemie had less than a 5% chance of survival. Today, that same infant has a better than 80% chance of survival. Project: New Born, a South Florida not-for-profit, supports and maintains the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Holtz Children’s Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center Complex. We have been committed to increasing neonatal survival rates for more than 40 years.
Project: New Born benefits The Schatzi Kassal Project: New Born Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Holtz Children’s Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center Complex. Funds are raised for research and equipment, subsidizing salaries of key personnel and advocacy programs supporting the well-being of premature and high risk infants.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, established in the 1960s, and totally redesigned and equipped with state-of-the-art technology in the I990s, is part of the Holtz Children’s Hospital, located within the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center Complex. It is a multidisciplinary facility meeting the needs of premature and critically ill newborns from Miami, South Florida, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Project: New Born, one of the largest and most respected level IV neonatal units in the country, began with seven tiny preemies in one room at Jackson Memorial Hospital, with rudimentary incubators and poorly adapted adult ventilators. Today, our Preemie Unit has grown to 175 tiny neonatal beds-including ICU stations and intermediate care step-down beds. In addition, several features of the Newborn Special Care Center serve to ensure optimal clinical care and family involvement. The Newborn ICU, for example, is adjacent to the center’s labor and delivery area, which facilitates a multidisciplinary team approach to complex perinatal problems, from prenatal consultation to delivery room management. The unit is staffed by experienced University of Miami faculty neonatologists, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists. Part of the intensive care area has been designed and staffed for the delivery of pre- and post-operative care of neonates with complex cardiothoracic and pediatric surgical problems. This arrangement enables a joint effort to provide exemplary care for prenatal and neonatal patients.
Beyond the door of the refurbished forty-bed Nursery “A,” our nationally acclaimed NICU, lie two more units – Nurseries “B” and “C.” They are in need of Project: New Born’s tender loving care in order for their renovations to meet the standards set forth by our members over the past 40+ years. The Proceeds from the 2014 Gala will benefit Project: New Born’s fundraising efforts to provide new, state-of-the-art equipment for the ongoing remodeling which will ensure the well-being of long term chronically ill at-risk premature infants who may remain hospitalized from 6 months to as long as one year.
