Video Exclusive: Julian Schnabel Master Workshop
Renowned artist visits NSU Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale
Bringing together the work of French artist Francis Picabia (1879–1953), American artist Julian Schnabel (b. 1951), and Danish artist Jens Ferdinand Willumsen (1863–1958) for the first time in the United States, the exhibition Café Dolly: Picabia, Schnabel, Willumsen will be on view at NSU Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale from October 12, 2014 – February 1, 2015.
Schnabel was in town to hang the exhibition, which includes several of his works that have never been displayed.
SocialMiami’s Aaron Glickman received rare access to Schnabel, and created this documentary short of the experience.

Foodie Find: Cavalli Miami
Cavalli Restaurant and Lounge is a decadent dining experience that begins with a seductive space adorned with rich leopard fabrics, striking woods, and crystal accents. It’s critical to begin here with a Roberto Cavalli Cocktail, the prize being those poured with the designer’s namesake vodka. Consider the Tre Eccellenze, for which the infused vodka is combined with aperol, fresh citrus juices and orange bitters. Or The Purple Glamour, which is a crystal glass filled with Cavalli Vodka, Flor de Violet, Orgeat syrup and fresh lemon. Then again, if the evening calls for an expense account consider The High Roller, with ingredients including Champagne Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque, Cognac Louis XIII, Angostura bitters, brown sugar cube and a $450 price tag (which compared to many Cavalli clothing items is actually quite reasonable.)
When you’re ready to taste the Italian temptations, Executive Chef Stefano Mazzi — who hails from Florence, Italy — will prepare succulent plates of authentic fare that’s appropriately dressed for the occasion. The Andria Burratta cheese is served with a thick collar of salty ham and enhanced with a drizzle of oil. The grilled octopus arrives with Tropea onions and Bronte Pistachio. The risotto with black truffle and oyster mushrooms is a luxe with flavor and the seared Tuna fillet is sliced think and topped with fresh Sicilian orange salad.
