Cocktails Under the Stars
Benefitting Legal Services of Greater Miami, the event raised over $50,000 to help expand services and support more families in need.
Legal Services of Greater Miami (Legal Services), a nonprofit law firm dedicated to advancing economic opportunity and social justice through effective legal advocacy for the low-income residents of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, held its reception, Cocktails Under the Stars. In its third year, the event raised over $50,000 to help expand services and support more families in need. In a remarkable display of celebration, over two hundred guests gathered for a memorable evening at the stunning Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Guests were treated to a variety of engaging activities, including live jazz by the talented Yamit and The Vinyl Blvd, fine wines, and delectable bites. The evening also featured a silent auction, a wine pull, and a raffle, with all proceeds directly supporting the organization.
The presenting sponsor, Evensky & Katz/Foldes Wealth Management, played an invaluable role in helping Legal Services reach a wider audience and contributed significantly to its success. “Behavioral finance teaches us that people thrive when they feel secure,” said Marcos Segrera, Principal at Evensky & Katz/Foldes Wealth Management. “I’m proud to support causes like this that help individuals build stability and resilience, which in turn strengthens our entire community.”
The event’s success was made possible by the generosity and commitment of everyone involved, including the host committee. Spearheaded by David Evensky and Marcos Segrera, the group includes Brian Barakat, Frank Gonzalez, Eric Gros-Dubois, Jordi Guso, Andrea Guzman, John Kozyak, Nicholas Landera, Javier Lopez, James Meyer, Elena Otero, Alexander Peraza, Carlos Perez-Abreu, Jorge Piedra, Tony Recio, Carlos & Johannah Rodriguez, Manny & Sandra Rodriguez, Alejandro Ruiz, Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jose & Elaine Segrera, Eduardo Soto, Luis E. Suarez, Michael Torres, Avi Tryson, Gabriel L. Valdes, and Joshua Young.
“Legal services are crucial for ensuring that justice and equality are upheld for every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jr., Partner at SMGQ Law. “Fundraising events such as Cocktails Under the Stars play a vital role in providing the necessary resources to increase awareness about our cause. These events empower us to deliver essential legal assistance to those in need, significantly impacting the lives of individuals and communities. It is an incredible honor to be part of that.”
“This year’s event exceeded expectations and created opportunities to forge new relationships with people who share a passion for equal justice,” said Legal Services CEO Monica Vigues-Pitan. “We look forward to continuing this tradition which supports our advocacy and directly impacts the lives of those we serve.”
