Lorna Galloway – Fiu’s Betty Laird Perry Winner

Native Floridian Lorna Ruth Galloway, FIU’s Betty Laird Perry MFA award winner, has a passion for printmaking and photography. In her work, she recreates Ed Ruscha’s Twenty Six Gasoline Stations with images from the video game Grand Theft Auto V. Galloway captures images during the game, uploads them to Rockstar Games Social Club, then downloads the photographs and digitally alters them. With this technique, she creates images in charcoal of an “Any Town, USA” that serve as a sensitive homage to a place and its disappearance. Lorna’s goals after graduating are to teach at the university level and encourage others students to explore a career in the arts.
