WIZO Women’s International Zionist Organization
Mission Statement
WIZO, founded in 1920, is an international organization of volunteers working together to improve the lives of women, children and families living in Israel. Since 1959, WIZO is recognized by the United Nations as a non-governmental organization with consultative status in ECOSOC and UNICEF. WIZO’s members work to support over 800 WIZO programs in Israel, including child care centers, schools, shelters for battered women, girls in distress, and services for the elderly.
WIZO feeds and educates thousands of children and provides social services to families suffering from unemployment, recession and terror attacks. WIZO USA, established in 1982, is a membership organization fostering Jewish identity through leadership development and a variety of educational programs that enhance Israel’s status in the United States and the international community by strengthening the bond between American Jewry and the State of Israel.
