10th Annual Miami Magic
Benefiting the Junior League of Miami
The Junior League of Miami, a community fundraising and volunteer powerhouse for nearly 87 years, welcomed nearly 300 guests to its 10th Annual Miami Magic event at Avenue D Jazz and Blues. Attendees enjoyed the evening’s 1950s Vintage Hollywood glam theme, live music, casino tables, raffles and more, all while raising money to support the mission of the Junior League of Miami.
“It was so inspiring to witness Junior League members, as well as friends in the community, having such a good time, all while supporting the work and the mission of the Junior League of Miami. We hope to continue making an impact in our community for another 87 years, and we are grateful to have so many partners helping us accomplish that goal,” said Leanne Tellam, President of the Junior League of Miami.
Miami Magic is one of two fundraising events the Junior League of Miami hosts each year. Local business and community leaders, together with members of the organization gathered for the evening to raise funds to support the Junior League’s mission-related work, which includes training women to be catalysts for lasting change in our community, as well as community-based
projects focused on improving the lives of families at risk. The Junior League of Miami concentrates its resources on making an impact within the areas of family violence and the health, education and welfare of women and children in our community. This year, the Junior League’s resources are going towards programs in conjunction with Camillus House, The Chapman Partnership, Foster Care Review, Lotus House, Miami Children’s Hospital, our Pride Academy and Whispering Manes. As in past years, the Junior League also continues to provide support, both in the form of monetary support and significant volunteer hours, to its signature projects, Inn Transition North, Inn Transition South, Done in a Day and Therapy Dogs.
Miami Magic attendees enjoyed fabulous live music from the Frost Studio Jazz Band directed by Stephen Guerra, and took advantage of poker, blackjack and craps tables in support of the cause. Attendees also participated in a raffle, vying for the chance to win such prizes as two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines, a private fishing charter with Captain Rick Killgore, and a two-night stay at the Viceroy Hotel.
Amanda Kessler and Deborah Koch, Co-Chairs of the 2013 Miami Magic Committee led the organization of the event. Among the evening’s generous sponsors were Bacardi USA, Posiedon, The Ferraro Law Firm, Alvarez Arrieta & Diaz-Silveira LLP, JPMorgan, Gold Coast Beverage Distributors, Sweet & Tipsy Cupcakes, Bill Seidle Automotive Group, Erin Knight, and David and Julia Bianchi. An International menu was prepared by PCS Events and Relish Miami, and members of the 2013 Miami Magic committee were treated to hairstyling and makeup by Elle Air Blow Dry + Makeup Bar.
