A Children’s Committee

Parents Unite for a Halloween Fundraiser

The Miami Children’s Museum’s Not So Scary Family Halloween Bash raises money for the museum’s scholarship programs. As always, the museum has put together a dedicated committee of parents whose children either currently attend the museum, or have attended in the past. Here are four fab ladies who are helping to make it happen.

Marlen Pernetti (Chair)
Marlen has been involved with Miami Children’s Museum for many years. In fact, she went into contractions with her six year old while in the museum’s gift shop.

“I was bonded with the museum for life,” she said.

Marlen has chaired several events for the museum and continues to do so even though her kids are getting older. “It’s wonderful to be able to provide for children,” she said. “They have a different perception and appreciation.”

Jackie Malamed
Jackie has two children (two and six) and loves coming to the museum. “Any day at the museum is fun,” she said, “but the Haunted House is especially wonderful because of the participation of the museum’s staff. Everyone gets dressed up and there is a great energy with lots of love and compassion.”

Marisa Schatzman Zelnick
Marisa has been with the museum for six years. She originally became involved through her job as marketing director for Donald J. Pliner. The Pliners are major donors to the museum and Marisa would work with them on their initiatives. Marisa now has a two year old child and her involvement has become even greater. “The staff at the museum is amazing and I know that my child is safe when she is here,” she said.
