A South Seas Treasure Hunt

The Latest Stop at Epicure Sunny Isles Beach

The latest installment of the Epicure Market and Cafe wine tasting series at their fabulously expansive Sunny Isles Beach locale was a true foodie’s delight. Named the South Seas Treasure Hunt Wine Tasting, the sunset affair attracted more than 40 participants who sampled varietals from South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Wine experts from Opici, Southern Wine and Spirits, Transatlantic, National, Coastal, Noble and Stacole engaged in conversation and shared information on the brands they poured. Stacole, who represents Torbreck, featured a 2008 Torbreck “Woodcutters” Shiraz and a 2007 Torbreck Viognier Marsanne Roussane. Also poured were renowned Mollydooker Boxer and Mollydooker Two Left Feet from Australia.

The evening was a sensuous bounty of tastes running the gamut from steins to stickies! In addition to the vineyards represented, Petrossean Caviar served their outstanding smoked trout with crème fraiche. Chef Morgan Zorniger paired wines with his “Roaring 40’s” steak sandwich, featuring the luscious Roaring 40’s blue cheese from Australia.

Providing a little ambiance to the night, Max the Saxophonist strolled through the crowd with his jazz delights. Liquor wholesaler and Miami native Ryan Rosenberg and his wife Hollen filled the bar with their brands Tommy Bahama Rum, Teaka Sweet Tea Vodka and Tyku Asian Citrus liquor. Specialty drinks were sampled at Epicure’s full service bar.

And that is correct, Epicure Sunny Isles Beach has a full service bar. Utilizing the liquor license from the days of Rascal House glory, this chic supermarket is also a great place to enjoy an afterwork cocktail, beer or glass of wine. Or, grab a drink before hitting the beach, which is right across the street.

Next on the schedule is a Labor Day weekend party at Epicure’s sister location, Jerry’s Famous Deli on South Beach — both are owned by the same family. Once again, Ryan Rosenberg’s brands will keep party goers happy with creative cocktails that will have everyone buzzing around South Beach.
