All About the Color
Color & Manicure Trends - Spring/Summer
Any woman can attest to the importance of proper nail grooming for sunny Miami weather, but the chic Miami woman will tell you – it’s all about the color, darling. The newest nail polish shades are out for this season and do not disappoint! Here are Social Miami’s top picks, sure to make your manicure the envy of the beach.
Chanel
Matching the neutral palette trend of the season, Chanel’s spring collection Les Impressions de Chanel is exactly what one can expect from the legendary house – pretty, wearable and classic. A shear pink and soft peach join the warm taupe named Particuliere, creating this highly wearable collection. Particuliere was worn on models for the spring 2010 Chanel runway, causing a mini sensation and intriguing polish mavens as to whether the color could compete with the similar and equally beloved You Don’t Know Jaques by OPI and Mink Muffs by Essie.
For summer, Chanel launched a much brighter collection Les Pop-Up de Chanel inspired by an idyllic seaside vista. The colors speak to the chic Miami resort lifestyle with a vibrant pink, Riviera; sunny coral, Mistral; and brilliant turquoise, Nouvelle Vague.
OPI
The Hong Kong collection for OPI spring and summer has been making waves since it hit shelves in February. As the undisputed leader of nail polish, OPI continues its dynasty with a collection inspired from the Far East. Jade is the New Black is emerging as the collection favorite and can be quite the tricky task to snatch up at the nail spa, purchasing a bottle (or five) is highly suggested. Last fall jade made a splash at fashion week when Karl Lagerfeld showed the color, but the Chanel nail polish shade was more of a mint. Perhaps following Lagerfeld’s lead, OPI presents the color beautifully along with a gorgeous collection of show stopping shades.
Essie
The Art of Spring by Essie is a great little collection of sheers and neutrals, but the Resort Collection launching in May 2010 will steal the summer. Created to mimic the sights and sounds of the world’s most exotic destinations, the four colors are an enticing set that will glow against a sun-kissed Miami tan. The vibrant blue, Lapis of Luxury and the perfectly aqua Turquoise and Caicos are already buzzing as must-have shades.
