Bal Harbour Shops and Project: New Born will host a gala evening to “Celebrate the Generations” at the Intercontinental Miami on November 19, 2011. Three generations of Project: New Born’s supporters will be recognized for their longstanding dedication to the success of the unit. All proceeds from the night will benefit The Schatzi Kassal Project: New Born Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, known world-wide for its success in caring for critically ill infants with some of the highest survival rates and successful outcomes recorded in the country.
Starting at 7 p.m., enjoy cocktails from the open bar, provided by Southern Wine & Spirits, while you browse the over-the-top silent auction, including designer jewelry, travel & getaways, as well as spa & dining packages.
From 8:30 p.m. the Grand Ballroom will be the place to be for this year’s dynamic Bal Harbour Shops Runway Fashion Show. Following the fashion show, guests will dine on a three-course gourmet dinner while enjoying the sounds of Music Machine, a live 13-piece band. A multi-chef dessert extravaganza created by South Florida’s most prominent chefs and restaurants will offer an array of sweet indulgences to cap off an extraordinary gala event.

About Project: New Born
37 years ago, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital was located in a small corner of the hospital. Today, the unit takes up an entire wing and is one of the foremost NICU’s anywhere. The growth of this medical treasure is due to the fundraising efforts of Project: New Born.
A non-profit organization founded in 1973 by Schatzi Kassal, Project: New Born maintains and supports the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Project: New Born Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Funds are raised for research and equipment, subsidizing salaries of key personnel and supporting advocacy programs pertaining to the well being of premature and high risk infants. The Project: New Born Neonatal Intensive Care Unit consists of 126 beds, including the Phyllis Simon Special Care Unit, plus a referral unit expressly for preemies requiring extremely complicated procedures bringing the total number of beds to 175. 2009 marks the 36th year for this organization.
