SPIEGELWORLD is coming to SoBe

Bathers at La Grenouille, Claude Monet, 1869

ArtCenter / South Florida (ACSF) isn’t your typical art gallery. Located in the heart of South Beach’s Lincoln Road, the 60,000 square-foot space provides artists with entire rooms and attracts hundreds of thousands of culturally diverse guests each year.

Moreover, the exhibitions at ACSF are as equally diverse and unique as the audience. Themed gallery nights are combined with wine tastings, live music and lectures that provide guests a truly distinctive gallery experience.

As part of an ongoing series of lectures, ACSF recently hosted an evening on Picasso Bon Vivant, which focused on the artist’s love of food and wine and how it affected his life and his art. Along with an insightful lecture by Armando Droulers, the night began and concluded with a wine tasting featuring the spirits that are said to have inspired the master himself. Similarly themed lecture nights go on each Friday at the Center from 7 to 9 p.m.

Future “Art & Wine” lecture topics include: Rufino Tamayo, one of Mexico’s greatest artists; the impressionist Claude Monet; and Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt among others. Another much anticipated upcoming event for ACSF is the Alterego exhibit which will feature the Center’s new juried artists from 2006/2007. The exhibit will open mid August with an opening reception scheduled for September
