The Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) raised more than $400,000 for student scholarships at its Second Annual Benefit Dinner. More than 450 guests attended the masquerade-themed event held at the historic Biltmore Hotel. FIU President Dr. Mark Rosenberg emceed and led the celebration with the announcement of the completion of the $20 million pledge made by Dr. Herbert Wertheim. Because of the Wertheims’ support and generous monetary contributions, the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine has been able to function at a high level from day one. This has included student scholarships, increased research funding, and enabling the recruitment of nationally renowned faculty. The dinner, co-chaired by Gloria Sesana and Debbie Tano, included a silent auction with more than 80 items and dancing to music provided by Kemikal Hourz.
