Casa Ricordi Gala
The 2008 Season Premiere Concert of Orchestra Miami was held at the Miami Dade County Auditorium. Dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the esteemed music publishers Casa Ricordi, the evening featured a magnificent opera review of some of the most beloved selections from the Ricordi catalogue. Guests artists Eglise Gutierrez, Indra Thomas, Mark Rucker and Gregory Schmidt gave outstanding performances that received numerous standing ovations. The Civic Chorale of Greater Miami gave a rousing rendition of the Verdi favorite Vai Penserio. Valerie and Camillo Ricordi, 7th generation descendent from founder Giovanni Ricordi, organized a pre-concert benefit reception in honor of the concert to benefit Orchestra Miami and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.
