City Year Miami’s annual gala is one of South Florida’s premier social events, uniting hundreds of influential community leaders to celebrate the achievements of 203 young men and women who have pledged a year of service to support students in Miami’s highest-need schools. Wearing their signature red jackets, City Year Miami Corps Members serve as tutors, mentors and role models to more than 5,000 students in 17 Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Corps Members arrive before the first bell rings and stay until the last student goes home–helping to transform a school’s culture with passion, energy and idealism. Working side-by-side with teachers, they use research-based tools and techniques to help students improve their attendance, behavior, and course performance in Mathematics and English. City Year is the only national organization placing full-time, trained young adults in schools to provide individual attention to at-risk students and help them stay in school and on track to succeed.
City Year Miami’s Paint the Town Red Gala provides critical funding needed to sustain and enhance program offerings that directly benefit kids in school communities across South Florida.
Join friends and supporters of City Year Miami for a night of joyful celebration at the brand new Student Center Complex Ballroom at the University of Miami. The fun-filled evening begins with a cocktail reception at 7 p.m., dinner and program at 8 p.m., followed by music and entertainment.
Your participation in this signature event will help City Year continue to change the world – one child, one school, and one community at a time.

About the City Year
City Year’s mission is to build democracy through citizen service, civic leadership and social entrepreneurship. It is through service that we can demonstrate the power and idealism of young people, engage citizens to benefit the common good, and develop young leaders of the next generation. City Year is wholly focused on fighting the national dropout crisis. We have committed to leverage the talent, energy and idealism of corps members to serve as tutors, mentors and role models in schools to help students stay on track – and get back on track – to graduate.
