Coral Springs Museum of Art to Host Romero Britto

Brazil themed “Blame it on Rio” event honors Brazillian-Miamian Artist

For more than 20 years, Brazilian-born Miami-made artist Romero Britto has fostered a message of happiness and hope with his energetic signature pop style. His artwork is colorful, playful and, as described by The New York Times, “exudes warmth, optimism and love.” Britto’s artwork is recognized internationally and epitomizes the culture and art movements of South Florida.

Since June 6, Coral Springs Museum of Art has hosted an exhibit of Britto’s most iconic pieces and on Thursday, August 20, the Museum will pay tribute to the artist by dedicating their annual signature “Masterpiece” event to him with the theme of “Blame it on Rio,” an official sanctioned event of Broward 100 – Celebrating the Art of Community. All proceeds will benefit the Coral Springs Museum of Art’s community and education programming, which includes innovative programs for veterans and children with special needs and Family FunDays.

While enjoying Britto’s charismatic pieces of art work including painting, digital prints adorned with handmade glitter, and sculptures, “Blame it on Rio” guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist at a private VIP cocktail reception at 7 p.m. In addition, representatives from the Consulate General of Brazil in Miami will be in attendance.

The doors for general admission open at 8 p.m. During the evening, guests will enjoy flavorful food from local restaurant Feisty Bull and mixologists from Leblon Cachaça will assist guests in creating their own caipirinhas. The cost to attend “Blame it on Britto” is $75 per person for general admission and $150 to attend the event and the VIP Cocktail Reception. RSVPS are required. VIP tickets have limited availability.
