This year’s honorees, recognized for their philanthropy and dedication to the community and for their continued fight against cancer, was Miami’s power couple Lilliam and Gus Machado.
Together with the help of the Gala committee, volunteers and sponsors, the American Cancer Society Miami Annual Gala raised over $1 Million.
This year was very special as five dance performances led by our Gala Chair Ana Ortega, our Gala Co-Chair Pepe Freixas and celebrity guests Pamela Silva Conde from Univision, Alina Mayo-Azze and William Valdes from Despierta America were all “Dancing for a Cause” with the professionals from Fred Astaire Dance Studio Coral Gables. These five couples were all dancing to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Now, over 100 years later, they can envision the end of cancer as we know it – from deadly to treatable, from curable to preventable. One hundred years ago, we began the fight of a lifetime.
