Diageo’s Cruise Line Bartender Competition In Miami
British-based beverage titan Diageo held a Miami-style soiree this summer, a cruise line bartender competition in which the contestants prepared a selection of traditional and cutting-edge cocktails. At the Diageo 396 bar – tucked away in the company’s Coral Gables location – three bartenders crafted aperitif and after-dinner cocktails featuring the company’s standout spirits including Bullet Bourbon and Tangueray Gin. Judges Julio Cabrera, a local mixologist, David Molina, head mixologist for Diageo BAR 396 and Marcy Rudershausen, Senior Master of Whisky for Diageo selected as the winner Andrej Malic, a leading bartender onboard Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Millennium. “I’m hugely delighted and grateful to be recognised by the WORLD CLASS competition and to have won,” said Malic. As the bartenders mixed and measured, a handful of Miami VIPs were treated to Diago’s signature creations including Bullet Bourbon and honey-mint, Don Julio with cilantro and jalapeño and Kettle One Moscow Mules in copper cups. In the company’s usual upscale style, guests also nibbled on an array of hors d’oeuvres including stuffed mushrooms, smoked salmon, and local ceviche.
