Dr. Eugene Sayfie Honored BY UM

Hundreds of supporters and friends joined University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala and UM Miller School of Medicine Dean Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., as they hosted the grand opening of the Eugene J. Sayfie, M.D., Pavilion for Excellence in Patient Care, and bestowed upon Dr. Sayfie the University’s inaugural Distinguished Master Clinician Award. The standing room only festivities and inspirational ceremony were held at the new state of the art medical pavilion in the Professional Arts Building on the Miller School Campus. This patient-first level of care is one that Dr. Sayfie has put into practice throughout a distinguished medical career. Dr. Sayfie, associate professor of clinical medicine in the Cardiovascular Division, is the Medical Director of the UM Executive Health Program at the Miller School.

The Eugene J. Sayfie, M.D., Pavilion for Excellence in Patient Care is a comprehensive care facility led by Dr. Sayfie. The philosophy, developed by Dr. Sayfie throughout his decades in medical practice, makes patients collaborative participants in their care. The whole body and life assessment includes a thorough examination of their current health situation that will result in the execution of a unique health plan for each patient on a personal basis. This plan also will empower and educate each patient about the multiple tools that they can use in their care.

In addition to Dr. Sayfie, the pavilion physicians will include Natalie Geary, M.D., director of the Office of Special Programs, UHealth Champions and UM Executive Health; Judi M. Woolger, M.D., co-director of the UM Executive Health Program and assistant professor of medicine; James M. Trice III, M.D., physician in the UM Executive Health Program and assistant professor of medicine; Lisa D. Grunebaum, M.D., assistant professor of otolaryngology in the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and physician in the UM Executive Health Program; and Nanette Bishopric, M.D., professor of medicine and director of the Cardiovascular Genetics Laboratory.
