The Man & Woman of the Year campaign

is a spirited competition benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that is designed to raise funds to help find cures for blood cancers. Candidates are a select group of honored individuals who are nominated by their peers. They are dynamic, passionate, sometimes competitive, and from both the social and business communities.

Last year’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign was a tremendous success, with candidates in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and San Juan, Puerto Rico raising nearly $800,000 to fund the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Southern Florida Chapter is now accepting nominations for 2016 Man & Woman of the Year.

Miami’s Man & Woman of the Year Leadership Team Chair is 2015 Miami Man of the Year Alex Pinelo of Norwegian Cruise Line. Serving as the Board of Trustees liaison to the Miami Man & Woman of the Year campaign is Alex Mendieta of AmTrust Bank/NYCB. The Miami Campaign officially begins April 6, 2016. The Fort Lauderdale Man & Women of the Year Campaign will begin March 30, 2016, with the event being held on June 4. Chairs for the Fort Lauderdale event are 2015 Man of the Year Brian Koch of Greenberg Traurig and Ana Vento of Events by Vento Design. Alejandro Mendieta of MetLife is Chairman and Daniel Green, Account Manager for the Miami Heat is Vice Chairman for the 2016 Man & Woman of the Year. Honorary Chairs are Michael Parrish of Aon and Michelle Fee of Cruise Planners.

The funds raised through Man & Woman of the Year are used in many ways. LLS offers free blood cancer information, education and support. LLS helps patients, survivors, families and healthcare professionals. LLS touches patients in their communities through our 61 chapters across the U.S. and Canada. LLS drives policies that accelerate the development and approval of new treatments. LLS advocates for blood cancer survivors and their families, helping patients navigate their cancer treatments and ensuring they have access to quality, affordable and coordinated care.
