The 31st International Hispanic Theater Festival (IHTF) 2016 will feature No daré hijos, daré versos (I Won’t Bring Forth Children, but Poems) at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The work from Teatro La Morena, Montevideo, Uruguay is written and directed by Marianella Morena. Six singing actors explore the life of Delmira Agustini, the first Latin American poet to write erotic poems, who was murdered by her ex-husband in 1914. The work fuses songs and short film to narrate the story where the flesh and its weaknesses occupy both foreground and background, inviting the audience to elaborate further. Performances are Thursday-Saturday, 8:30 p.m.; Sunday, 5 p.m. The 31st International Hispanic Theater Festival (IHTF) 2016 runs from July 7-24. General admission is $34.
