9th Annual Jazz Under the Stars: Paquito D’Rivera
Concerts & Performances
MDC Live Arts and MDC Kendall Campus will present the 9th Annual Jazz Under the Stars, featuring Grammy-winning Latin Jazz icon Paquito D’Rivera, hosted by CBS 4’s Marybel Rodriguez. Cuban-born D’Rivera boasts a prolific career that spans nearly six decades. Virtuoso of both saxophone and clarinet, champion of jazz and classical alike, equally accomplished as an instrumentalist and a composer, it is no wonder he’s acquired an arsenal of honors, medals and awards. He’s founded and led several ensembles, played in the greatest orchestras, composed numerous commissions, and recorded over 30 solo albums. D’Rivera will perform his greatest hits under a starlit sky on Kendall Campus. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a “Taste of Jazz” pre-show event featuring delectable fare from local restaurants and gourmet eateries. The concert will begin with MDC student and faculty performances. Tickets are $25 and $10 for MDC students with ID, and benefit MDC students pursuing degrees in music, theater and dance at the campus.
