Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and O, Miami will host an evening of poetry readings in the gardens headlined by National Book Critics Circle Award-winning poet (and mentor to James Franco) Frank Bidart, who will be reading from his well-known works, including Metaphysical Dog (FSG, 2013). He will be joined by poet Peg Boyers, adjunct professor at Columbia University and executive editor of Salmagundi, reading from To Forget Venice. Guests will be invited to write their own poems in response to prompts created by poet Nick Vagnoni, which will be located throughout Vizcaya’s gardens during the month of April in celebration of National Poetry Month. As part of the “Vizcaya as Text” academic project, the program will also feature informal readings from FIU Honors College students, sharing their original works inspired by Vizcaya. Beverages are sponsored by Perrier and Biscayne Bay Brewery. Food will be available for purchase in the Vizcaya Café and Shop. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for Vizcaya members, plus fees.
