Bass Museum’s Sculpture Exhibition
Art Exhibitions
Bass Museum of Art will present an exhibition of fourteen sculptures in Collins Park as part of its tc: temporary contemporary program. Highlights include: Sterling Ruby (b. 1972, Germany) Big Yellow Mama (2013), an oversized replica of the notorious Alabama electric chair; Marianne Vitale’s (b. 1973, US) Ace of Spades (2015), an homage to the industrial age created from 60 tons of steel scrap sourced from a railway yard; Tony Tasset (b. 1960, U.S.) Deer, 2015, a 12 foot replica of a deer referencing environmental concern that nature is out of balance; Ursula von Rydingsvard (b. 1942, Germany) Bent Lace, a 9 foot form that is simultaneously delicate and massive; Hank Willis Thomas (b. 1976, U.S.) Ernest and Ruth, 2015, a metal bench in the shape of a cartoon speech bubble. Free and open to the public.
