The groundbreaking black classical dance troupe, whose visit last season after a nearly 20-year absence was such a powerful artistic and community event, returns to the Center. An inspiring force for an inclusive vision of ballet since it was founded by the legendary Arthur Mitchell in 1969, Dance Theatre of Harlem performs innovative classical, neo-classical and contemporary works that celebrate the beauty of ballet and of African-American culture.This years program features a special performance of Dougla, choreographed by Geoffrey Holder.
