Frost Art Museum will host the opening reception for Dawoud Bey: The Birmingham Project. In 2013, 50 years after the infamous attack on the African-American 16th Street Baptist Church, and the ensuing violence throughout Birmingham, Dawoud Bey made his first of what would be multiple visits to that city to create a commemorative project. Over the next seven years, Bey developed The Birmingham Projecta series of vibrant and poignant photographic portraits.
