The Miami Theater Center in partnership with Indegenous Celebration will host the Yawanawá tribe from the Brazilian Amazon with a weekend of performance, food, and culture. Guests are invited to experience this once-in-a-lifetime performance as they are performing as a group in the U.S. for the first time. The tribe will showcase Journey to Mutum: A Cultural Encounter with the Yawanawa Tribe of the Brazilian Amazon September 29, 30 and October 1. The weekend festivities begin with a performance at Miami Theater Center (9806 N.E. 2nd Avenue, Miami Shores) and continue with a fundraiser dinner Friday night at the Kampong, followed by a family day October 1 where guests can interact with the Yawanawá tribe. Performance tickets are $30. The fundraiser special event Dinner for Mutum will take place on September 30 at 7 p.m. at the Kampong (4013 Douglas Road, Miami) and will raise funds in support of the Traditional School of Mutum.
