An excellent singer and guitarist, MacDonald is also known for his socially-progressive and thought-provoking lyrics; Lee Zimmmerman, reviewing Rants And Romance in Goldmine (August 2023) wrote “You’ll find yourself singing along to MacDonald’s refrains, but when I closed eyes for “Heal the World,”  I imagined a room harmonizing on the chorus.
