Based on the story of the Book of Esther, Esther and the King is set in Persia in the 5th century BCE. After King Achashveros’s wife Vashti is killed, Esther (a Jewish woman) comes to his attention and he chooses her to be his new Queen. Starring Joan Collins, Richard Egan, and Denis O’Dea.
