Don’t miss the swansong of The Wolfsonian-Florida International University summer-long film series with Miami Beach Cinematheque. Using external narration and an episodic mix of memories, this film portrays the life of the Cuban intellectual and novelist Reinaldo Arenas (1943–1990), from the poverty of his early childhood to his persecution by the Castro regime and final years in Manhattan during the AIDS crisis. Before the screening at the Miami Beach Cinematheque, 1130 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach at 6 p.m., start off the evening at The Wolf with an intimate guided tour of Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction. Adults, 11: $9 for students and seniors. Optional tour of Promising Paradise at The Wolfsonian is included in the film admission price.
