South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center will present Ifrikya Spirit as part of the Center’s Cabaret Series. Musicians from 42 African countries converged on the Algerian capital in 2009 for the Pan-African Festival. This was a major event for the members of Ifrikya Spirit and proved to be a major turning point in their creative lives. The visiting musicians went home, but they left many instruments behind, which allowed the musicians to create a band called Ifrikya Spirit. Their goal is to play all sorts of music, like salsa, blues, and reggae, but all with an African spirit. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the show.
