Concerts & PerformancesJazz at MOCA will feature a holiday special performed by the Miami Big Sound Orchestra, Miami’s resident professional contemporary Latin Jazz Orchestra. This 18-piece powerhouse group is made up of veteran Miami musicians who have performed and toured with the likes of Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Jon Secada, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Chayanne, Ray Ruiz, Tito Nieves, Chaka Khan, the Funk Brothers, Gloria Estefan, Cheo Feliciano, Luis Enrique, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Issac Delgado, and many more. The featured vocalist is Lourdes Valentin, a jazz singer, songwriter, guitarist and painter. The orchester is led by trumpeter/flugelhornist Pete Francis and bassist/composer Rafael Valencia, the band delivers its own blend of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, contemporary Jazz, Soul, as well as original music inspired by Machito and Tito Puente, with a contemporary twist. among many other artists.
