Jazz Roots: The Movie Music of Spike Lee & Terence Blanchard

The 2015-2016 eighth anniversary Jazz Roots season will kick off with a spectacular concert exploring the movies of director Spike Lee and the memorable scores of Terence Blanchard. An internationally renowned jazz trumpeter, Blanchard has over 50 film scores to his credit and is the most prolific jazz musician to ever compose for movies. The evening will feature a montage of classic scenes from Spike Lee movies performed by a star-studded lineup featuring Blanchard and his quintet. Joining them will be 3-time Grammy and Tony-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater, Grammy nominated vocalist Maysa and rising R&B/jazz and gospel vocalist Lizz Wright, along with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. Presented in collaboration with the Frost School of Music’s Festival Miami. Tickets range from $25 to $130.
