The World Monuments Fund devotes its activities to partnerships around the world that assist with advocacy, documentation, conservation, and interpretation of historic architectural and archaeological sites. Lisa Ackerman will discuss how the Lod Mosaic serves as an important example of the way in which conservation and exhibition of a work serve as a beacon. In addition, she will discuss some of the recent attacks on historic sites and by extension on cultural identity, including sites in Syria and throughout the Middle East. Free and open to the public.
