The Virginia Key Beach Park Trust will host a My Miami Story conversation, an initiative of the Miami Foundation designed for Miamians to share their experiences of what makes Miami so unique. It will be a relaxed gathering to share and connect around our experiences living in Miami-Dade and visiting Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. For generations, Historic Virginia Key Beach Park has been the place for families to picnic, celebrate, and enjoy the beautiful South Florida shore. The Park, rich in cultural history, played a significant role in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, creating a sanctuary for African American beach goers by being the only Colored-Only beach in Miami. Key Miamians will be a part of this conversation to share over 70 years of rich Miami history. Panelists and guests will share their personal stories about how we came to Miami, why we stay here and explore what each of us can do to make this community a better place to live. WPLG Channel 10’s Alex Finnie will moderate.
