Orfeo ed Euridice
Concerts & PerformancesFlorida Grand Opera will present Orfeo by Christoph Willibald Gluck. A wife must enter the Underworld to discover the depth of her husband’s devotion. Gluck’s masterpiece is most famous for its immortal aria, “Che faro senza Euridice. But it is also a compelling and deeply personal story of how far one man will go to prove his devotion to his wife. The grief-stricken musician and poet Orfeo risks the terrifying depths of the Underworld to bring back his beloved Euridice alive. For years, the role of Orfeo was the specialty of mezzo-sopranos, but FGO has cast one of today’s most dazzling countertenors, Anthony Roth Costanzo. Performances at the Adrienne Arsht Center on Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m.; and Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $229.
