Susanna Caldwell Linfield is a dedicated teacher of English language and literature who revels in nurturing the full range of her students’ communication talents, but she also leads a parallel existence as a professional sculptor and painter, exhibiting under the name Susanna Caldwell. Both her teaching and artistic career are sustained by decades of travel and experiences living in fourteen different countries. Persistent themes in her work are fertility, creativity and the iconography of myth. Her paintings have a strong narrative element. Her current work combines fully three-dimensional, painted or unpainted, clay or resin figures against a painted ground or in painted and sculpted environments. On view through February 26.
