The Miami Jazz Cooperative will present a world-class celebration of the 100th Birthday of Ella Fitzgerald at the Banyan Bowl at Pinecrest Gardens. The ELLA Celebration will feature Brenda Alford, Desiree Bannister, Alice Day, Lisanne Lyons, Wendy Pedersen and Nicole Yarling who will sing the songs for which Ella is best known. Among the musicians accompanying our singers will be pianist Mike Orta, guitarist Randall Dollahon, and the South Florida Jazz Orchestra directed by Dr. Chuck Bergeron. A pre-concert lecture by UM Frost School of Music Professor Bergeron about the life and music of Ella Fitzgerald begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by the concert at 8. Tickets: $30 and $40.
