The National LGBTQ Task Force Gala – Miami
Honoring Star Trek: Discovery's Wilson Cruz and Anthony Rapp and the Eddy McIntyre Community Service Awardee Gisela P. VegaCharity & Social Events, Events of the Week
The National LGBTQ Task Force will host its 23rd annual Gala, themed “Fifty Years of Fierce!” The evening celebrates the intensity and passion with which the LGBTQ community has thrived in the fifty years since the Stonewall uprising of 1969 and will honor Wilson Cruz and Anthony Rapp for their leadership in the LGBTQ community. Cruz and Rapp currently co-star on the award-winning CBS All Access original series Star Trek: Discovery, where they play the first openly gay couple in the Star Trek universe. Also being recognized is Dr. Gisela P. Vega, Director at the UM LGBTQ Student Center, who will be presented with the 2019 Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award. The black-tie gala, chaired by Juan Talavera, features entertainment, cuisine, dancing, and a silent auction, all with the goal of fundraising in support of the LGBTQ community.
