Deering Seafood Festival

Nothing screams Miami like seafood and the Deering Seafood Festival is one of our city’s great seafood events.

Spend the day enjoying South Florida’s biggest backyard on the bay – the historic Deering Estate at Cutler – surrounded by mountains of Florida’s freshest seafood, colorfully costumed junkanoo dancers and nonstop live musical entertainment. The family-friendly Deering Seafood Festival is on Sunday, March 27, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. when local restaurants and caterers join together to serve up scrumptious bounty from the sea.

This year Chef Dean Max, recently named King of American Seafood, heads the celebrity chef cooking demos along with Chef Jouvens Jean (SAWA Village of Merrick Park), Chef Sean Bernal (Sushi Samba) and from the Bahamas, Chef Tricia Ferguson (co-author of Lionfish Cookbook). Cooking enthusiasts can taste their unique recipes and watch them prepare delectable seafood dishes. The festivities continue with pontoon boat rides to Chicken Key, an Artists’ Village featuring local artists and artisans, a Lil’ Shrimp Kids Zone with a new Deering Discovery Cove, and guided tours of the historic estate. Trent Aric, ABC’s meteorologist, will serve as the Festival’s emcee.

The Deering Estate at Cutler is a Miami-Dade County park, located at 16701 S.W. 72nd Avenue, in Miami. Admission tickets to the Deering Seafood Festival, which include park entrance and all entertainment, are $15 for adults if purchased online in advance and $20 at the gate; and children four to 14 are $5.

Deering Estate Foundation members are free. For more information call 305-235-1668 ext. 263 or log on to: www.deeringseafoodfestival.org. Proceeds from the event benefit the Deering Estate Foundation.
