Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s PACESETTER Event

Nearly 500 of Miami’s leading Jewish philanthropists gathered for an inspiring program on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, during the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Pacesetter Event at the Hilton Miami Downtown.

Chaired by Wendy S. Gordon and Clarita Kassin, the event raised more than $4.5 million for the 2020 Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign to care for those in need, support vital social service and education programs and strengthen Jewish life in Miami, in Israel and in more than 70 countries around the world. Colleen and Richard Fain helped spark the spirit of giving by establishing a challenge fund that matched part of the evening’s donations.

The event featured comments from a number of community leaders, including Federation Board Chair Jeffrey Scheck and Federation General Campaign Chair Isaac K. “Ike” Fisher. Major General (Ret.) Amos Yadlin, a former Deputy Commander of the Israeli Air Force, a past Director of the Israeli Security Agency Shin Bet, and the current Director of Tel Aviv University’s Institute for National Security Studies, delivered the keynote address, speaking about major geopolitical, military and societal challenges facing Israel. Attendees also enjoyed a musical performance by an ensemble of teens from Guitars Over Guns, a Miami organization that offers students from disadvantaged backgrounds a powerful combination of music education and mentorship.
